Had this for a week. Bought for $199 at Circuit City. Just returned it after a bit of use. There are performance issues. The package says 10 hours of battery life. I am getting about 6. Also, the system has quite a bit of lag. From turning on the system it takes over a minute to get a song playing. The system often stops to think (it keeps playing music) but you can't adjust the volume, pause or skip during these 30 second periods. The screen does not update with the new song for 20 seconds after it starts playing. E-mails to their tech support are not answered and they have very little information on this product on their site. Finally, the fact that they cripple some of the features and force you to pay extra to activate them really burns me as well. The final straw was seeing that the Dell went on sale for $199 for the 15 GB model today.

Greetings, I have been using the AJBR20 for about 7 months now and other than freezing up a couple times have had no trouble. Gmini, did you load the "Rockbox" software on it? It solves many problems and adds many other features.

Nimh batteries have to be charged and discharged several times before they reach their full potential, so that might have been your prob. there.

I did not try rockbox because I did not want to void my ability to return the item if it did not work. I returned the Gmni and bought the DJ and have been very happy. The Gmni had some cool features, but still, if it didn't work as an MP3 player then what is the point. Incidentally, I still have not received a reply from their tech support for the problems I e-mailed them.

Interestingly, I just got a response from their support (2 months later) that they now offer the plug in software for free. Too bad they were just way to late with that information to be helpful.
