Where'd you get this info from...do you have the link? I think many people already knew about the phone, I heard someone say that they were gonna come out with a phone like that, and I could see the Nano being a reality. There have been a couple players with that amount of space that have color screens like that Samsung Player, and Creative's new player (I don't think its in the US yet). But 199 is a little pricy...
Can't be named Nano, because Nano is the renamed Creative Zen MuVo.

Apple likes to step on the toes of Creative don't they? They have to know there's already a player called the Nano...
$199 for a 2 gig player is silly. Sure it may be small, but why not go for something else with more than twice as much space than this?
^Isn't that the same argument that was used for the iPod mini?
Anyway, Thinksecret's got a report (http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0509ipod.html).
Apple will upgrade both its iPod mini and iPod shuffle lines of music players, but most likely not at its media event next week, Think Secret has learned. The media event will instead be devoted almost exclusively to the new iTunes-enabled Motorola phone and the company's partnership with Cingular.

Not really. When the mini's came out, they may have cost more per gig, but they were still cheaper. At $199, I could get a 4 gig ipod mini, twice the size of this "nano". So what's the point?

That's good, I've been waiting for the shuffle to come down in price.

They had a photo of the Nano in the paper today, the 2gb is $200, the 4gb is $250. Does photos too. Looks VERY thin. Stevo claims it's "thinner than a #2 pencil"(I think he was referring to the player when he said that). Says they'll be selling this weekend (maybe even today) in a lot of places. You gotta hand it to 'em, they do have a way with creating a buzz. We'll see how well the thing works. I bet somebody on the ipod lounge has one already.
It replaces the Mini. I did post here some time ago that they'd have a mini with a color screen out for Christmas. Guess I was right! And they did away with the HD to make it thinner I guess. It'll probably use less battery too. Heck, my girls got minis last Christmas and they're already ghetto. To figure.
You can buy the Nano now from Apple.com or .ca, they are giving you free shipping and free engraving! 2 lines of 23 characters whatever you want.
Apple Canada sells the 4GB for $299CDN, for that price its better to get a DJ20!
