Amid lawsuits regarding the Nano's easily scratched screen, Apple has listened and decided to include a case with it. Apple is a respectable company, right?

That's a step in the right direction, and will help keep the Nano scratch-free until you shell out for a decent case.

The Nano's bigger brother, the iPod w/ video, came with one too. It did *it's* job until I bought a decent case for it off Ebay.

They should have done this from Day 1. Oh well, at least they're doing it now. Just took a couple of pending court cases to do it. :P

But let's face it. People are being a bit anal about this. C'mon - scratches on a walkman, VCR, etc. is normal. If you wanna protect it, you shouldn't blame Apple just because it can be scratched! Jeez!! Reminds me of the 'McDonalds - Hot Coffee spill' lawsuit!

I was gonna say the same thing. I have a few scratches on the back of mine but thats it. And you could only see the scratches in DIRECT sunlight outside.

I'm quite sure if Dell and Creative had a larger community you would see a lawsuit against the Pocket DJ and the Zen Micro for its faulty 5gb hard drive which has affected hundreds of players. Surely not the millions that Apple has but still a lawsuit would of been against Dell, Creative, and Seagate for the faulty drive.
Also Creative could of been sued for its faulty headphone jack on the Zen Micro, and Dell for its faulty Gen 1 DJ hard drive.

But nobody stepped up to the plate and therefore you see all these complaints and nothing has been done about it.

Apple just has a big audience so thats why lawsuits come quickly and the talk of how badly the Nano scratches seems overrated.... IMO

Yeah my Dell has a Tego skin (check the accessories board) and it's been pretty much protected, but when It didn't have it I didn't get scratched that easy I used to put it in my pocket with changes and keys so even when I was running upstairs, or running to catch the train, it didn't show any ware, althought the black lettering on the back and the front (The play pause left/right graphics) did ware off after a while. The screen on my Dell DJ Gen 2 (20gig) isn't as proteced as I'd like it to be, my screen has pretty nasty dings on it, nothing serious but it's there (and because of that I stoped putting change or anything metal into that pocket..).

I'd wish every mp3 player came with some sort of case by default, or at least coat or make the thing with some anti-scratchable material. I'm not a care less person, but people that actively (meaning the move around in the day) use there players on an every day basis needs that extra protection.
