Hey everyone...I haven't been posting much the last few days. School has been hectic and swimming is starting up for school. I just felt like making a thread to say that I've decided I want an iPod, probably the 30 gigger because the Nano isn't even enough for my music and i do want to put my photos and files on there. I've clearly thought out this decision and have decided that 30 gigs with that screen is a good deal, and the player is meets my needs pretty well. I'm not an audiophile or anything so I'm not anal about sound quality. And I like the DJ's playlist feature but I rarely ever listen to playlists. I just want something a little slimmer and with a color screen, and my parents will give me probably around 200 bucks for it if I pay for the rest. I'll still definitely post here :) , and expect a review from me whenever I get it.

Ha, if you're going to mooch it off of your parents then I support you. I'll agree with you, the iPod is very tempting, especially if it's the same price point as the new dj.

Hey, I can't deny that the new iPod is scrumptious. Good for you, then. I still love my player, though. =p

Well, fellow iPoder, welcome to the exciting world of video Podcasts and playlists based on a 5 star rating system (Apple's playlist system is unique and quite versatile). Having just put the movie 'Napoleon Dynamite' on my iPod to watch during downtime, I can attest the latest iPod is a good move esp. for the price.

As for audio quality, the new iPod is better than ever w/ a 20-20Khz rating and a 100db SNR, making it the best sounding iPod yet. Audio formats withstanding, it is the best sounding DAP you can buy (provided you use a line out, decode your music to lossless quality and use a battery-powered external amp w/ excellent headphones if you wanted to be anal)

Whatever you do, share your experiences with your new DAP and don't leave the site. This community is the perfect size and very fair and open-minded. You won't find that generally at the 'bigger' sites.

Oh...one more thing - definately get a good case - like this one before you even get the iPod, if you want to keep it scratch-free while in use:

As for scratches, I'll definitely get a white one, and I'll use that cheapo case as much as possible when it's in my pocket.

Unless you really care about using it in the case, the cheapo one that comes with it should do fine.

Yep, I figured I put the case in my pocket, and put the iPod in the case, and just take it out of the case if I want to use it.

I've made the same decision. I went to see the ipod at best buy and, dont get me wrong, it was great, but it didnt blow me away. But I was still enough impressed. (and it definitely would have helped if they actually had a file loaded on the thing. it was empty)

My DJ just won't stop with the button mix-ups. If I miss part of a song, I either have to forget about it or play the whole thing again.

and i've said this before somewhere else, but I am definitely getting a case that covers everything like the nano's agent 18 case right away.

Welcome to the dark side. :hide:

I've had my 4 gig nano for about a month now and it's still scratch free, I do keep it in a case though. I think the best part is that iTunes compliments the iPods quite well, they are both made for each other. Playlists do work well on iPods, and Smart Playlists are an interesting way to manage/listen to your music collection because they can be setup for "live updating". I mainly use my nano for podcasts, so Smart Playlists help organize and clean up old files.

Well, I just started lifeguarding so by the end of the summer I'll have plenty of spending money. And there will be a new iPod sooner or later, probably around the holidays or around macworld, or I'll wait till the next Cowon or Creative player.

My DJ's volume buttons havent worked for like 2 months, and its stuck on a really low volume, so music listening is almost impossible, but I'll wait a few months...
