Wouldn't it be hydrodynamics? Those are a pretty good idea for the swimmers.

Haha thanks!! Actually, at the last big swim meet I went to, they raffled off one of these things and my friend won it. My brother tried it out and he said its pretty cool. The water helps the sound travel to your ears. I was thinking about buying this but i dont know how interested I am in listening to music underwater. I really want to try it out before I buy it, to see if I like the experience. I dont know if I went to spend 200 bucks on something thats constantly being submerged underwater; I think id still rather put the money towards a new iPod, but I'm not sure. Thanks for reminding me about this though.

My other swim friend also has a waterproof mp3 player, and it's pretty cool too. He just clips it on too his bathing suit and it comes with these in-ear earbud headphones that work pretty good underwater. Check it out at www.swimman.net

Yeah I know, but my friend bought one, and I'm telling you it works great. And it's probably better for some people if you don't want to deal with those weird headphones on the other mp3 player.

You could be cheap and put your dj in a ziplock bag. :D

Although, that might cause some problems.....I don't think I'd recommend it.

By the way, during warmups tonight at practice, I tried this thing out by borrowing it from my friend. It works pretty good. When you're listening to it above water, the sounds is louder but its all distored. Then when you go underwater, the sound is is little lower, but it sounds much better and it really sounds pretty good, like you dont realize youre even swimming. This is kind of annoying because, if you want to listen to the music underwater at a normal volume, the music might end up being too loud when you take your head out of the water. It be loud while youre swimming, but if you stop at the wall or something. Being so used to getting bored after the hundreds of laps I swim, its nice to hear a little music while swimming all the laps.

I do have another gripe. If you're swimming freestyle, do a flip turn at the wall, and push off into a streamline, the headphones will add resistance and flop around a lot. After pushing off the wall in freestyle I had to readjust the headphones which is definitely inconvenient. So, this thing is great for doing some casual laps, but not for a full practice like I'm doing. If I have to swim fast during the practice, I dont need the headphones flapping against my head. The way I see it, this thing is great for warmup. However, I dont think I want to spend 200 bucks to just use it in warmup. Besides, I listen to my DJ before practice and try to get a song stuck in my head. If I was going to get an mp3 player, I would get the one my other friend has, and I already left a link to it but here it is again: www.swimman.net

I know the website looks really unprofessional, but my friend has this thing and it really works well. It comes with a little clip to clip it to your bathing suit, and the earbuds work really well.

lol...bout those hydrodynamics...yea i would probably mess you up, but that doesnt matter in practice. more drag is better. only during meets would in matter (and i would have to call you stupid for needing that during a meet)

Yeah well to continue my mini-review on these, I think it's best for anyone looking for waterproof mp3 gear to wait another year or so. This thing is really first generation when it comes to waterproof mp3 players, and I'm sure that in a few months ahead, swimmers will products better suited for workouts.
