I was reading on the apple.com site that you need Service Pack 2 on Windows to make the iPod work. I've heard alot of bad things about the SP2, like it deletes registries, and sometime your internet connections.

Do I HAVE to have SP2 becuase I don't want to mess up my computer.

I'm not sure, but I'd download service pack 2 regardless. It's not bad, if anything your computer is more secure with it.

Yea....I downloaded it when it came out, and it hasn't messed up anything....so I'm fine with it. Security is more important to me than having a few problems with my music.

I've been using SP2 since it was in beta last year. Never had a problem with it.

What is it?
About once a year, Microsoft releases an update to Windows XP. These updates contain all the fixes and enhancements which have been made available in the previous year. The updates (called Service Packs) provide convenient, all-in-one access to the most up-to-date drivers, tools, security updates, patches, and customer-requested product changes.

The latest Service Pack for Windows XP—Service Pack 2 (SP2)—is all about security, and it’s one of the most important service packs ever released. It provides better protection against viruses, hackers, and worms, and includes Windows Firewall, Pop-up Blocker for Internet Explorer, and the new Windows Security Center.

You might already have SP2. Press WinKey+Pause to see what service pack you have. But I would upgrade; the bootup time is signifgnantly faster and there is quite a few improvements all around.

Whats the WinKey and where is the Pause key?

EDIT: Never mind, I found it. I still have SP1.
